Kathleen Urbanic has been studying the history of Rochester's Polish community since the 1980s. Her work documenting the community's story has appeared in Polish American Studies, PNCC Studies, New Horizon: Polish American Cultural Review, Rochester History, and other publications.

Since the release of the first edition of Shoulder to Shoulder in 1991, Kathy has initiated the formation of archives for the Polish community at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, and has chaired the parish's stained glass window restoration and church restoration projects. She often conducts tours of St. Stanislaus Church for historians, preservationists, and students, and has spoken about Rochester Polonia's history to local, regional, and national groups. Active in local history, historic preservation, and archives, she is Archivist for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester.

Frank Anders (Anuszkiewicz) has written and illustrated three children's books for Whitman Publishing Company, including Grandmother and Machek, a tale recounted by his mother. He has designed and executed covers for the New York Herald Tribune, and has exhibited his photography at the Rundel Memorial Library in Rochester and the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo. His work has been recognized with awards for watercolors, photography, and television advertising.

Since his retirement, Frank has devoted much of his time to painting in various media. Many of his paintings are on Polish and Polish American themes, including a rendering of a First Holy Communion procession into St. Stanislaus Church in the 1930s.

His work has been accepted in juried shows in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, as well as in local exhibits. He continues the habit that he began during his high school days of sketching everyday scenes. This includes sketches made during his service in the Navy in World War II.
